El Otro Lado (The Other Side) is a video installation that allows the viewer to experience my journey crossing the border separating Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Through the use of VHS footage of travels of family vacations through Mexico in the mid 1990's and my documentation of current border crossings, I invite the viewer to explore the temporal space created by the habitual crossings of the U.S. Mexico border through language, visuals and sound.
